OUR SACCO AND ITS ECOSYSTEM
Title: From Grassroots to Growth: Our Story of Transformation.
At Alhamdu Ademasajida SACCO Ltd, our work is driven by a clear mission: to strengthen our enterprise, improve production, expand market access, and secure sustainable growth for our members. We have harnessed the power of structured mentorship to build a professional and competitive organization.
Our Core Economic Activities:
- Tie-and-Dye Textile Production: This is the heart of our SACCO, engaging nearly three-quarters of our members. We produce vibrant, high-quality garments using traditional techniques. Through the KJET mentorship, we have introduced standardized dyeing procedures and quality checks to ensure consistency and excellence in every piece we create.
- Farming: As a community in the ASAL region, farming is a crucial supporting activity for our members, providing food security and supplementary income.
- Handicrafts: Our skilled members create beautiful, eco-friendly items like woven handbags and foot mats, showcasing the diverse talents within our cooperative.
- Butchery: A vital community service, our butchery provides local access to quality meat products and adds another layer of economic resilience to our SACCO’s portfolio.
Our Impact Story:
The journey from informal production to a structured enterprise has been remarkable. Through the KJET BDS Mentorship program and our dedicated mentor, Geoffrey Kasili, we have made significant strides:
- Stronger Governance: We have moved from informal leadership to a defined organizational structure with clear roles for production, inventory, and quality oversight.
- Improved Financial Management: We have transitioned from manual notebooks to structured bookkeeping, cashbooks, and budgeting practices, providing us with financial visibility and control.
- Enhanced Marketing: We are moving beyond word-of-mouth to developing a brand identity and establishing a social media presence to reach wider markets.
- Better Production & Quality: We are implementing standardized practices and quality control processes to improve product consistency and appeal to institutional buyers.
We are now firmly on the path to achieving our vision of becoming a leading textile cooperative, increasing production efficiency, and expanding into high-value regional markets.
