Who We Are
Alhamdu SACCO is a community-owned financial cooperative dedicated to improving the socio-economic well-being of ASAL communities through inclusive financial services and enterprise development. Membership is open to women, youth and households across Habaswein and the wider Wajir County catchment, giving members a direct stake in the cooperative's governance and growth.
Recognizing that sustainable development requires more than access to finance, the SACCO integrates business development, value addition, capacity building and market linkages to support members in building resilient enterprises. Women and youth remain at the centre of the SACCO's development approach, ensuring equitable participation in economic opportunities and deliberate inclusion in leadership and decision-making structures.

Abdisitar Abdikhalif Mohamud
Special Project Lead and Coordinator
Abdisitar Abdikhalif Mohamud serves as the Special Project Lead and Coordinator at Alhamdu Ademasajida SACCO, where he is the driving force behind the organization's most strategic initiatives. In this capacity, he oversees the end-to-end execution of high-impact projects—from conceptualization and planning to implementation and evaluation. He coordinates cross-functional teams, aligns stakeholder interests, manages resources, and ensures that each project is delivered on time and within scope. His role is pivotal in translating the SACCO's strategic vision into actionable results, bridging the gap between leadership goals and operational success while maintaining a steadfast focus on enhancing member value and organizational growth.

Focus: Risk Assessment, Fairness, and Member Support.

OUR EXPERTISE
From informal to structured
KJET mentorship transformed Alhamdu Ademasajida from a grassroots self-help group into a women-led textile enterprise. With 120 members, the SACCO now adopts structured bookkeeping, quality control, and digital marketing.
Registered in 2022 (self-help group since 2018), the SACCO is a beacon of women economic empowerment in Habaswein, Wajir County.

Introduction
Welcome to Alhamdu Ademasajida SACCO Ltd, a vibrant, women-led cooperative rooted in the heart of Habaswein, Wajir County. Born from the vision of 120 determined women, our journey began in 2018 as a small self-help group. Recognizing the power of unity, we formally registered as a SACCO in 2022 to amplify our impact and build a sustainable future for our community.
Our Activities
Our members are the lifeblood of our enterprise. We are more than a cooperative; we are a family of farmers, artisans, and entrepreneurs. While our primary passion lies in the intricate art of Tie-and-Dye textile production, our strength is woven from a diverse tapestry of activities. We cultivate the land through farming, create beautiful and functional handcrafted items like woven handbags and foot mats, and run a community butchery.
Our Objective
We believe in economic empowerment from the ground up. With the support of the Kenya Jobs and Economic Transformation Project (KJET) and expert mentorship, we have transformed from an informal group into a structured, growth-oriented enterprise. We are building robust systems, enhancing our craft, and creating a thriving business that uplifts every member. At Alhamdu Ademasajida, we are not just making products; we are weaving a brighter, more prosperous future for the women of Wajir County.
Our Integrated Approach
Alhamdu SACCO's model rests on four mutually reinforcing pillars. Rather than treating savings, enterprise, skills and markets as separate interventions, the SACCO sequences them into a single pathway that carries a member from financial inclusion through to sustained market participation.

OUR IMPACT STORY
The journey from informal production to a structured enterprise has been remarkable. Through the KJET BDS Mentorship program and our dedicated mentor, Geoffrey Kasili, we have made significant strides:
Stronger Governance: We have moved from informal leadership to a defined organizational structure with clear roles for production, inventory, and quality oversight.
Improved Financial Management: We have transitioned from manual notebooks to structured bookkeeping, cashbooks, and budgeting practices, providing us with financial visibility and control.
Enhanced Marketing: We are moving beyond word-of-mouth to developing a brand identity and establishing a social media presence to reach wider markets.
Better Production & Quality: We are implementing standardized practices and quality control processes to improve product consistency and appeal to institutional buyers.
We are now firmly on the path to achieving our vision of becoming a leading textile cooperative, increasing production efficiency, and expanding into high-value regional markets.
